I'm not an artist

Last year, I had a gallery show with Allie Lehman and Megan Leigh Barnard at Wild Goose Creative.

It was incredible and I loved making creative images of ten women. But there's one part I didn't like...

People started talking about me as an "artist." And it made me uncomfortable. But why did it make me feel that way?

I think it's because I consider myself an entrepreneur much more than an artist. When I think about my clients' interpretation of the work that I do, they often say that they like how organized and communicative I am. They like how I take charge of shoots, getting things done efficiently and delivering images quickly. To me, it seems like working with me has more of  an association with entrepreneurs than artists, especially since I'm a commercial photographer.

I'm comfortable with being called a creative - it's much more broad and can mean a number of things. So I'm an entrepreneur and a creative...but not an artist. What do you think?
