Ever wonder why your images look like this...

...instead of this? (No haze!)

As always, I truly can't speak for other photographers when I talk about the way I choose to work.

Sometimes clients are working on tight timelines for marketing campaigns, a website refresh, or a social post. If they haven't worked with me before, they don't realize how quickly I turn around their images. (Often within 24-72 hours depending on the size of the shoot.)

When they're in need  of a "quick handful of images," I often say no.

But why can't I just do a few?

Not everyone likes to have their photo taken...including me. 

​It's probably not surprising that I'm much more comfortable on my side of the camera - the other side, with the lens, can be terrifying. 

Here's what I've learned:

1. Experience: I felt awkward. I didn't know how to pose or where to look or what to do with my hands.
   Lesson: learn how to make people feel comfortable and guide them.
2. Experience: I've worked with friends who are amazing photographers - but that didn't make me feel less awkward.
   Lesson: I may be taking a photo of someone I'm close to, but they could still feel uncomfortable, and that's ok. It's probably not personal.
3. Experience: I didn't like every photo.
   ​Lesson: write a blog post about it.
