How to get same-day photos from a photographer

First of all, I must say that my "secret tip" to getting same-day images will not work for every photographer. I only speak for myself!

Recently, I realized that it's my job to educate my clients on how long they have to wait for me to send photos after a shoot. Many people (based on experiences with other photographers) expect to wait a few weeks.

I promise I'm not throwing ANY shade whatsoever to other photographers. It's just that my workload is structured in a way where I normally get all images to clients within about 24-72 hours of the shoot.

But what if there's a huge NEED for images on the same day? Even during the shoot? For example, what if the company is hosting a huge event launching a big business deal? Photos need to be posted to social media like..now! Well in that case, a friend said it best...

"With proper communication and planning, I can get you an image during an event." -- Andy Gottesman, Gottesman Photography
So the secret tip is using communication and planning? Yep. Here's some extra info and tips:
  1. As Andy said, communication and planning ahead of time is necessary for this to work. Last-minute requests may not be possible.
  2. What can be expected? This varies. If I was asked for all fully edited and processed photos within 30 minutes of the shoot ending, I likely couldn't commit to that - especially without the promise of WiFi! But one image during the shoot for social media? Sure, that's likely possible.
  3. The further ahead of time such a request is made, the more likely it is that a photographer will comply - simply because they are able to plan for it and bring any gear or equipment they might need to fulfill the request.

As always, I hope this is helpful information about how to work with your photographer for the best results possible!

Happy Friday!
Autumn
