If you're unsure of what Instagram bots are, skim through this. (Feel yucky already? Yeah, me too.)
While I do have over 7 years of marketing experience, I don't always agree with how marketing is handled.
Top three reasons I hate bots:
It reduces the value of organic Instagram engagement. Last year, Instagram changed its algorithm quite a bit, including the widely hated change of showing you posts with higher engagement (rather than in chronological order).Plus, there are more ads. Ewwww.
Instagram won't help since they want more users. Instagram might be tweaking their algorithm in a few small ways to reduce benefits of using bots. Which sounds great, but do you really think Instagram is going to work hard to reduce users and user engagement? Probs not.
The real issue that makes you/your brand look super gross if you're botting: my friend Allie Lehman lost her grandfather in 2017. When she posted a photo of him and talked about their amazing relationship and how much she'll miss him, a bot comment appeared on the photo saying something like, "Great photo!" or "Awesome!" or "So cool!" How disrespectful and difficult for her. She deleted it quickly.
I will never use bots. Any comments or likes from my account will always be genuine and organic.
